Making the Most of Summer
The warm months are a special time of the year! Summer is the season to be outdoors, listen to the birds chirping, and enjoy being under the sun.
At OA, spending time outside is our favorite thing to do!
So many people feel as though time gets wasted easily due to busy schedules and work. Good news! There are ways to make sure you get the summer you want.
When it comes to planning your adventures, here are 5 tips to keep in mind:
1. Prioritize what brings you joy. Take a few minutes to think about what makes you the happiest. When was the last time you felt this way and what were you doing?
Try bringing more enjoyable activities into your life by deciding what is important to you. You get to be in control!
2. Make a bucket list of what you want to get out of summer. Imagine the summer of your dreams. What does that look like?
Think about the people you want to be spending time with, where you want to go, and what you want to do. Write down 5-8 activities that you and your loved ones would enjoy.
3. Try something new!
Is there something you have been interested in, but haven't had the time to do?
This is your chance! Pick something out of your comfort zone, like stand-up paddleboard yoga or kayaking, and roll with it.
Commit to this activity without the pressure of being good at it. Take pride in showing up to this new experience and enjoy the process of trial and error. That is how we truly learn.
4. Plan your weekends, and stick to those plans. It is so easy to let life get in the way of fun. If you can put work aside for one Saturday and simply enjoy time outdoors, this is time well-spent.
You will be more productive if you give yourself time to recharge. When work comes up on a day you would rather relax, allow yourself to say no. The work will still be there tomorrow, but the chance to make memories might not be.
5. Leave time to simply relax and be. Reflect on how you've been spending your time. Make changes when you need to.
